Step Seven โ€“ Humbly Asked Him to Remove Our Shortcomings

Now that we are ready, God can work his magic on us. We must pray for His help and stay willing to cooperate with Him.  God is with us, on our side, and wants to help us, but weโ€™ve got to ask.   He wonโ€™t interfere or take away our free will.  It was our choices and behavior that made things difficult for us while we were doing our own thing. We suffered from our own beliefs about people and situations, and how we responded to them. Itโ€™s not so much the thing we did, or the mistakes we made, itโ€™s the constant remorse and beating ourselves up about it that keeps us stuck in negative patterns. This clinging to what should or should not be is what must go. There is no should, there is only what is.  We fight the things that we donโ€™t like and itโ€™s just so tiring. Our shortcomings may be many, but nothing is out of reach for our Higher Power to fix.

Being humble before God, is admitting that we believe he has the power to do something that we could not. He can take the suffering out of our experiences if we simply ask and then be willing to trust. If you pay attention, youโ€™ll notice that the experiences that come into your life are exactly what you need now. Trust that they are there for your benefit. Thereโ€™s nothing ever bad happening, thereโ€™s only an experience to help you understand, or to get something out of you thatโ€™s deeply rooted. If you pay attention, youโ€™ll get it. Your Higher Power is incredibly clever and knows exactly what you need. Just go with it and try not to buck the current if things seem to be going sideways. Let go and allow while you look for the inner wisdom that God is giving you. Ask for help and surrender.

We are all Godโ€™s children, and He loves us unconditionally.  It is our Higher Powerโ€™s desire that we thrive and love and connect with one another. This is our true nature. He will help you as much as He would help any other child of God. You arenโ€™t an exception to Godโ€™s love. If we can refrain from comparing ourselves to others, we can see the beauty in our own lives more clearly, and our worthiness. All children are equal and of great value to the Universe. If we are ready to change and let go of our shortcomings, He can use us for healing.  The miracles happen when we let them in.  Weโ€™ll see them when we look for them. Just keep asking for more.
