A Great Movie for Future Sages

Heaven Can Wait

I saw this 1978 film starring Warren Beaty years ago and itโ€™s currently available on Amazon Prime. I remembered how much I enjoyed it but for some reason put off watching it again until last night. I may watch it a couple more times. It just makes you feel good. This story has so many wonderful characteristics about being fearless and being a deliberate creator. I’m not into doing movie reviews. I just wanted to share this with everyone, especially for our future sages.

The story is about a football player, Joe, who is taken out of his body too soon during an accident. It wasnโ€™t his time, and he insists he must go back to play in the Superbowl. Not having an acceptable body available that is about to be vacated, Joe accepts the body and life of a very wealthy, and very self-absorbed man, who had just been poisoned by his wife and lover. While Joeโ€™s focus is to play in the Superbowl, he hurriedly works to take care of the business of his adopted life.  He then takes his attention to getting his new body in shape with the help of his old coach. While Joe is being Joe, he inadvertently changes the world around him, particularly the lives of his coach, and his new love.

Joe is a hero, a guru, a sage. He doesnโ€™t know it; he just is it. He is good, fearless, and reassuring, unaffected by the negativity of his wife and her lover who are plotting his next death. He has his eyes on the purpose at hand and uses his values in his affairs. He doesnโ€™t dwell on mistakes; he just expects things to work out and for others to just do the right thing. Heโ€™s not teaching anyone anything, he lives as an example.

This is a great PG-rated comedy movie for our future sages and parents. There is no nudity or sexual content and no actual death scenes. Joe is a character that shines as a great example of living a good life and working with the Universe. Though the outcome is not known in the moment, everything works out for the good if we just be, and let go.
